I am honored to be nominated for the office of President of UFANIU. I have been active in union activities since its inception and would like to take this opportunity to highlight some of my contributions to our cause. I was part of the original organizing effort – 75% of eligible library faculty signed union cards.  As a member of the By-laws committee, I helped draft the by-laws during the summer, 2016.  I served as an election official at our initial election. At present, I am a member of the Bargaining Team. As such, I have authored Articles for negotiation and attend bargaining sessions.  Thank-you for your consideration and dedication.

It has been my honor to have been the first UFA President. What a proud day it was when we filed our organization papers. I want to be leading our team when we sign our contract. I continue to address the Board of Trustees with UFA events and concerns, and work to ensure they include our union’s interests in important university decisions. In addition to helping advocate for our raise, I look for new ways to improve NIU. Three things I proposed are a #MeTooNIU safe space so anyone can voluntarily discuss sexual harassment, abuse and assault, while having the support of the administration; creation of a graduate CHANCE Program to improve our diversity and GA numbers; opening Anderson pool free swims to undergraduate/graduate students. Thirty-five years at NIU have shown me that we need to work together and when we do, things get done.  I'm asking for your vote.
