I am so proud to be a part of the UFA, an organization which I have been an integral part of since its beginning. In November of 2014, a small group of colleagues and I realized that a union would be necessary to give a voice to our faculty. We now have a chance to shape our institution's future with the change in leadership in the University. I would like to be your voice in helping usher in our first fair contract. I believe, as faculty of the College of Engineering, that is important to have many voices included in shaping the future NIU. Together we can make this a strong, inclusive, and cohesive voice for the faculty and the students of our great institution. Thank you for your vote!

I am interested in serving the union by running for Vice President because I believe in the power of collective organizing. I bring years of experience working as a community organizer and blending activism with scholarship. Having spent this year on sabbatical I offer fresh energy. It's important particularly now that unions are vehicles for solidarity and community engagement. Since this is a faculty union I am committed to cordial and collegial relationships within the department, college, and university and being a working scholar. All are useful in being a forceful, courageous advocate for faculty needs, particularly those most marginalized. The power of a union is in its membership base and solidarity, and so I will work to reinforce a participative, inclusive culture and structure.
